I want a pet: about adoption |

I want a pet |
If the shelter's staff determine that you have chosen a puppy or kitten that is too young to be spayed or neutered, the adoption fee is $149. The additional $50 is refundable when you present proof of spay or neuter to the shelter.
A cautionary note about pets as gifts: It's admirable to want to give a pet a Forever Family for the holidays; however, giving pets as surprise gifts often leads to abandoned pets. A pet is a big commitment, so it is important for the future pet owner to be part of the decision and select his or her own companion.
If you want to give a gift to a friend or someone outside your household, consider donating to the shelter in his or her name. If you have a family member who has always wanted a pet, try giving pet-related items as his or her "open" gift and then coming to the shelter together to select the newest member of your Forever Family. |
