CITY HALL HISTORY

Return to Visiting City Hall

City Hall was originally built in 1935.  It included the fire station, with the trucks housed in what is now Council Chambers and the sleeping quarters in the current Administration office section.

An addition from the late 1960s was demolished toward the end of the 1990s, and a new addition opened in 2001, providing state-of-the-art facilities for Sumner Police on the first floor and offices on the second floor for Community Development, Public Works and Finance.

City Hall as fire station with the vehicles in the bays that are now the Council Chambers.  On the right is the 1932 Kenworth truck that is still owned by the City of Sumner and used for parades and other celebrations.

Groundbreaking for the new City Hall renovation and expansion behind the old 1960s addition.
