Details about the New Intersection

• Much more efficient intersection as goes from five legs to four legs.  West Main becomes right in, right out only and not on the signal cycle.

• Improved traffic flow with updated signal cycle.

• Fryar Ave. changes to two through lanes (one in each direction) with a center turn lane, getting left-hand turn drivers out of the line of traffic. 

• Lanes aligned better through intersection, increasing safety for vehicles.

•  Addition of bike lanes.

•  Addition/improvement of pedestrian access with new sidewalks filling gaps and better crossing options at the intersection.

• Elimination of the "speed ramp" at the UP track crossing on Fryar Avenue.

• Repavement through the intersection--deep concrete should insure we don't see road work return here again for a long time.
