FORESTRY COMMISSION

The Forestry Commission provides advice to the City on issues related to the planting and maintenance of trees. Of the seven members, at least four must be City residents. The Commissioners serve three-year terms and include people with expertise in trees, local business persons, residents, and representatives of utilities.

The Forestry Commissioners prepare, maintain and implement the City's Urban Forestry Strategy. The Commission is active in managing a variety of community tree planting projects, including an annual observance of Arbor Day. They often work closely with the Parks Board to improve parks and beautification areas. The Commission meets as needed to discuss pertinent issues.  Learn more about Sumner's trees.
